Dear Readers,

We have recently started a YouTube channel with fostering related topics to be discussed.

You can find it by clicking here.

We will regularly upload informative videos, for our carers and potential carers, and anybody who is interested in fostering.

Check it out, leave feedback and comments and feel free to share!

Thank you,

The Welcome Foster Care Team

Here at Welcome Foster Care, as an agency, our carers and young people come first. We strive to provide fostering support for our carers and young people in any way possible.

For the carers, we provide many forms of fostering support;

24/7 Support

We are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to ensure that you are given the right support and advice needed.

Allocated Supervising Social Worker

You will be allocated a named, qualified and experienced social worker who will visit and call you regularly. They will be your main point of contact and support.

Paid Holidays

14 nights paid respite per year.

Training and Development

We offer an opportunity for you to develop every month either in the form of training or support groups. You will have the chance to gain knowledge and experience from professionals and to share your knowledge and experience with other carers. Please take a look at our page dedicated to Training for foster carers.

Family Outings and Social Events

Fostering can be tough so it is very important that you enjoy yourself and have fun. We organize various fun events and family outings throughout the year for you, your family and foster children.

We also have a very generous payment package. Click here for information on Fostering Payments.

For our children and young people, we have an entire page of our website dedicated to them and to provide fostering support to them too.
The main sections covered are as follows;

  • What is Welcome Foster Care?
  • Why do people go into foster care?
  • What will my foster carer do?
  • What will my social worker do?
  • How often can I see my family?
  • When can I go home?
  • How can I tell WFC if I am not happy?
  • Who can I contact if I am not happy?

If you have any further questions about fostering support or how Welcome Foster Care can support you as a foster carer, please feel free to make an enquiry, call us on 020 3397 3332 (London Office) or 0161 638 3391 (Lancashire Office) or catch us via Facebook or Twitter.

Here at Welcome Foster Care we organised our very first Big Day Out on 29th May 2014.

We wanted to organise a day out for all our carers, children, families, staff and partners as a way of saying a massive thank you for all their work, involvement and support with Welcome Foster Care. The aims of the day were to engage everyone in a whole range of activities which would be enjoyable, healthy, educational and fun. We hoped that everyone would take the opportunity to get to know each other better too.

We spent the day at Nell Bank in Ilkley, which is a beautiful setting. The day consisted of outdoor team activities, delicious refreshments and a prize giving ceremony at the end of the day. We took part in competitions to ski on concrete, fill tubes of water and find Gruffalos. We also tried orienteering, explored the adventure playgrounds and generally had a lot of fun!

We thoroughly enjoyed our first annual Big Day Out at Nell Bank.

Here are some of the comments from carers, young people, and others who attended the event;

  • Robbie was friendly to meet; I’ve never met him before
  • I liked lunch
  • I like to play with my new friend and games, skiing was the best
  • Very educational and fun. Amazing day out and yummy food well done Welcome ***** (5 stars)
  • Nell Bank with Welcome was good fun, especially for younger children. Food was lovely
  • It was okay. It was educational for the young children
  • We liked playing in the water and going on the digger
  • Good fun
  • Green and lush
  • Playing outside in the rain and hiding in the tunnels – not squirting the mummies though
  • Fantastic facilities
  • Fantastic setting – a really lovely welcome and excellent support all day from Nell Bank staff enjoyed meeting other families and doing activities
  • Liked exploring and having fun in the playground

It was brilliant to see so many carers, children and families and staff members all together, getting to know each other and having fun.

A great day was had by all!

Every family who attended received an award, certificate, and goody bag and the award ceremony recognized every child’s strengths, interests and achievements.

We have already started planning for next year’s event, so watch this space…
